Forest Engineering Workshop

Equipped with tools and machinery, the forest engineering workshop provides students with hands-on experience in forestry practices, timber harvesting, and sustainable resource management.

Clear Sample Preparation Workshop

This is a specialized facility where researchers and students can carefully prepare and analyze wood samples, ensuring precision in understanding the material’s properties and characteristics.

Wood Utilization Laboratory

This facility is equipped with advanced testing equipment to explore physical, mechanical, anatomical, and chemical wood properties, and enhance the efficiency of wood utilization across industries.

Vuyisile Mini Furniture Factory

VMFF is a unique space where students engage in the design and production of small-scale furniture items, gaining practical skills and insights into the art of woodworking and furniture manufacturing.

Bachelor Degrees

The Department host Bachelor of Science in Wood Technologies and Value Addition programme which produces graduates with broad technical knowledge and skills of wood processing

Master Degrees

The Department host masters degrees in Forest Products and Technology, Forest Engineering and Management of Natural Resources for Sustainable Agriculture

PhD

The Department host PhD in Forest Sciences programme which comprises of one year of coursework at SUA and three years of research, thesis writing and defence
